Statkraft secures nominations at Energy Storage Awards
The shortlisted categories include ‘Best UK Project under 100MW’ and ‘Developer of the Year’
Statkraft, Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy, has been shortlisted in three categories at the Energy Storage Awards, which aim to reward excellence and hard work in the European storage industry, including for ‘Best UK Project under 100MW’ for Neilston Greener Grid Park and as ‘Developer of the Year’.
Neilston is Statkraft’s first grid-forming BESS to be built in the UK. A 50MW project developed by Statkraft using Fluence technology, which will complete construction in early 2025. The project stands out for its strong sustainability focus and community engagement, making it a model for future energy storage initiatives.
Close collaboration between Statkraft, contractors, and the local community has been pivotal in minimising disruption on local roads and reducing environmental impact.
The project team has worked diligently to implement measures that reduce noise, dust, and traffic, ensuring that the local community is not adversely affected by the construction activities. Statkraft is also proud to have initiated a community fund of £20,000 every year for local projects focused on lowering carbon emissions.
The 'Developer of the Year' category is designed to recognise companies that have been exemplary in their development of utility-scale battery energy storage systems over the past year.
