The Knockando Woolmill Trust was awarded £25,000.00 by the Berry Burn Community Fund for a project focused on waterwheel energy recovery and storage.
The community fund generated by Statkraft's Berry Burn wind farm in Scotland has awarded funding to Knockando Woolmill Trust. The funds will help to restore and upgrade the 19th-century waterwheel at the historic Knockando Woolmill in Speyside to generate green electricity.
The upgrade aims to reduce the operating costs at the mill by approximately £7,000 per year, generating up to 67 kWh of clean energy daily and reducing the mill’s reliance on the national grid.
Our team of Statkraft cyclists were proud to take on the 66 mile Etape Loch Ness and raise over £5,000 for mental health charity Mikeysline.
Together, the team raised £2,718 which was match-funded by Statkraft. Scott Gilbert, a Statkraft employee based in the Highlands said:
"It's impossible to live here and not know about the amazing work Mikeysline do - they make a real difference to people's lives across the region and in our schools."
We met Nina and Egan, recipients of the Statkraft STEM Scholarship with the University of Highlands and Islands.
As part of our commitment to supporting students studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths in the Highlands, we invited Nina and Egan to join us at All Energy, the UK's largest energy conference, to help them connect with people in the industry and inspire them to choosing a career in renewables.
The UK Project Delivery Team held a pre-start meeting with a lunch-talk concept at the Swansea GPP site on March 12.
The aims were to highlight Statkraft's health and safety vision, stop unsafe work authority, and the importance of consultation with workforces and effective communication for promoting a good H&S culture at the project.
Around 20 pupils from years 5 and 6, from a local primary school, visited Statkraft at Alltwalis Wind Farm.
During the visit, we had the opportunity to discuss various aspects of the wind farm and our daily activities.
We demonstrated some of the tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) we use, as well as our climbing techniques.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) representatives visited our Neilston Greener Grid Park earlier this year.
The visit was part of Statkraft’s commitment to engaging with local emergency services and concluded with a brief tour of the site, providing the firefighters with a first-hand look at the facility and potential scenarios they might encounter in an emergency.
Students from a London secondary school got an insight into the world of property, with the opportunity to design their own skyscraper, take on the role of building landlord and create a building they'd want to work in.
For a third year in a row Statkraft and the An Càrr Dubh Wind Farm were proud to sponsor the Inveraray Highland Games.
This popular event draws visitors from the local area and from around the world and provided the opportunity to meet local people and stakeholders in a more formal setting, while raising the profile of Statkraft UK.
